Gracenote is seeking a full-time senior J2EE Engineer to join Gracenote's Applications Development Team. As a J2EE Engineer within the Content Applications Development Team you will be working on world-leading music and video related products and services, such as Gracenote's famous CDDB music recognition service. Gracenote products power industry leading applications such as Apple iTunes, RealOne, Winamp, Sony Sonic Stage, and many more. These services are also being delivered in cell phone applications throughout the world, including USA, Brazil, Japan, and Korea. Within the team-oriented environment of J2EE development, you will construct complex applications that play a critical role in maintaining the high levels of quality and service our customers have come to expect. We appreciate aggressive development and heavily promote new ideas and technologies. Although, we focus on Java technology, coupled with XML, we constantly explore new technologies to provide the most effective highly-tuned tools for our internal and external editorial teams. You'll have the opportunity to make significant contributions in this area and help define our architecture roadmap.
Normal daily responsibilities include:
- scoping, design, and development of new applications for use by internal staff as well as data editors around the world
- working closely with Database Engineers to develop various components of Gracenote Media Portal application
- enhancing the existing content management applications
- promoting new technologies for improving existing architecture and processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Designed and developed two or more complex web applications
- 5+ years of development/web development experience (can include university experience)
- 5+ years of Java experience (2+ years of 1.4 or higher) including JDBC, JCA, JMS, RMI
- 4+ years of solid J2EE experience
- 4+ years of experience developing with JSP/JSP2.0, JavaScript, XML (XSLT, XSD)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing in Apache/Tomcat environments
- 3+ years working in Unix/Linux environment
- 1+ years of actual work experience with AJAX and/or Spring platforms
- Solid Object-Oriented design skills
- Familiarity and flexibility with SQL and PL/SQL
- Accepting top-to-bottom ownership of important production processes
- Working with a sense of urgency and drive
- Good communication skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Integration project experience, any EAI, message bus, JCA experience
- JMS development over any message oriented middleware such as MQ Series, Sonic, Tibco etc.
- Spring or other dependency injection framework
- Knowledge of any workflow frameworks, principles
- Web portal development
- XQuery/XSLT experience for manipulating XML
- LDAP
- Good knowledge of HTML/CSS
- Oracle 9i/10g database, Postgres
- ANT, JUnit
- Experience with database design and using schema design tools such as ERwin or Oracle Designer
- Experience developing complex reports
- Experience working with offshore teams
- Good planning and estimating abilities
